Mortgage Field Services Inspector – FAR Inspections
FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders.
Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but an ability to manage time and meet deadlines is crucial. Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over 9 years.

About the Role Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties and send out independent contractors to verify property occupancy, report general condition, and take photos.
Verify property occupancy.
Report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application.
Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
County Responsibilities Contracted at a county level; responsible for completing all inspections in your county, possibly split with another inspector if volume allows.
Responsibilities
Most common type of inspection should only take 5-6 minutes.
Complete the inspection within 4 days after it is assigned.
Report general property conditions and make a determination of occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in an app.
Requires being able to spend extended periods of time driving while making numerous stops during the day in the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with an internet connection
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus as you will be paying for your own gas)
Smartphone (Android or iPhone)
Printer
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver's license
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate, varying by county and volume. You will earn approximately $30–$40 per hour. Depending on county type you may complete 20–500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week. No set minimum; earnings increase with experience and coverage.
No mileage reimbursement beyond the flat fee per inspection.
