FAR INSPECTIONS is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but the ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines is crucial. The position is based in Reno, NV, and FAR Inspections has been in business for over nine years.
Job Overview Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties. The purpose of the property inspection is to verify occupancy and report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only; about ten percent require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
Responsibilities
Complete inspections in your county, potentially sharing the county with another inspector if volume permits.
Most inspections take 5-6 minutes.
Complete the inspection within 4 days after it is assigned.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in an app.
Be able to spend extended periods driving while making numerous stops during the day in the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with an internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus, as you will pay your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate. Rates vary based on county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, you will earn the equivalent of $30‑$40 per hour. Depending on a county and whether it is urban or rural, you will complete anywhere from 20‑500 inspections per month, working 2‑30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates and higher volume counties have lower rates. There is no set amount of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month‑to‑month.
No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
