Job Description The Integrated Case Management Specialist performs selected services and functions related to insurance management with various payors, ortho calls, payer communications, and support of Care Coordinators.

Responsibilities include preparing required appeals and denial information, following up on communications, managing mail distribution, answering case‑management and social work phone lines, and handling Medicaid and discharge functions.

The role also involves using EPIC to retrieve and enter data, coordinating authorizations, and providing patient support such as appointment scheduling and discharge reports.

Responsibilities

Review daily admission data with Care Coordinators to verify insurance coverage, pre‑certifications, and authorized days.

Contact admitting staff when authorization information is missing or incorrect.

Perform daily log reconciliation and use EPIC for data retrieval and documentation.

Retrieve information for Physician Advisors as needed.

Manage the DNFB report to determine outlier days and release accounts accordingly.

Check admission and discharge dates, and enter LAD into EPIC.

Maintain Utilization Review RN updates for payors.

Enter all documentation into EPIC for denials.

Contact insurance companies for coverage information and obtain authorizations.

Answer all phone calls to social work and case‑management lines.

Provide office support: manage messages, mail, ordering supplies, and assist with discharge reports.

Interpret department communications if certified as an interpreter.

Participate in quality improvement efforts to enhance work efficiency.

Perform other clerical duties requested by the Administrator, Manager, or Care Coordinator.

Assist with bed location for discharge, fax referrals, order DME, refer to community resources, provide Medicare letters, arrange Medicaid appointments, follow‑up appointments, fax medication orders, and coordinate hospital transfers.

Conduct initial psycho/social assessments as needed.

Qualifications

High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.

Experience in the healthcare industry.

Effective written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.

Proficient in computer use, word processing, and Excel.

Ability to learn new computer systems such as EPIC and INDICIA.

Education in clinical and discharge patient needs.

Strong time‑management and prioritization skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Self‑directed with initiative to solve problems.

Preferred Qualifications

1 year recent experience in a hospital or medical setting.

BSW/CSW preferred.

Compensation Starting at $21.4 per hour. Compensation reflects market data, experience, education, and internal equity. Benefits include health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement options.
