Position Summary Serve as Owner’s representative. The Electrical / IT Inspector will support LAWA’s Quality Assurance & Construction Inspection Division across multiple projects within LAWA’s Capital Improvement Program.
Essential Job Duties
Conduct daily inspections of electrical and IT systems across building and terminal construction projects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and project specifications; review and interpret construction documents including blueprints, shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
Prepare detailed daily inspection reports documenting the WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, and HOW of all observed construction activities.
Verify contractor compliance with local and national electrical codes (e.g., NEC, NFPA 70, 70E, 72) and LAWA-specific standards.
Track and document time‑and‑material work, field changes, and job quantities.
Assist in validating contractor progress payment requests based on an approved schedule of values.
Support special inspections and testing activities, coordinating with engineers, contractors, and third‑party agencies as needed.
Use electronic equipment to review and utilize contract documents efficiently.
Perform inspections of electrical installations including underground utilities, high‑voltage switchgear, conduit racks, lighting systems, fire life safety systems, and lockout/tagout procedures.
Inspect IT infrastructure installations such as low‑voltage systems, door card readers, security cameras, public address systems and communication cabling.
Minimum Qualifications
At least 3 years of experience performing electrical/IT inspections for Building Construction.
Current ICC Certification as a Commercial Electrical Inspector.
Proof of NFPA 70E standards training within the last 3 years.
Proof of Cal‑OSHA 30‑hour training within the last 4 years.
Training & knowledge of NFPA‑70, NFPA‑70E, and NFPA‑72.
Fall protection and harness training.
Preferred Qualifications
Journey‑level electrician experience focusing on installation and repair of electrical systems in public works, institutional, commercial, or industrial settings.
Experience overseeing compliance with building codes on significant construction projects.
Experience coordinating complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
Expertise in identifying and addressing deficiencies to meet required standards.
Strong understanding of diverse code requirements.
Excellent communication and time‑management skills.
Required Qualifications
3+ years of experience performing electrical/IT inspections (airfield lighting experience required for airfield tasks).
Strong working knowledge of City of Los Angeles and County of Los Angeles standards.
Team‑oriented and detail‑oriented professional with commitment to safety and compliance.
US Employment Authorization without sponsorship.
Valid Driver’s License and compliance with PACIFIC’s Vehicle Policy.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
3+ references from clients.
Hardware/Software Knowledge
Knowledge of Project Management information software such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Word, PM Web, Adobe Pro, Bluebeam, etc.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent.
Higher education preferred.
Registration/Certification
OSHA 30 within the past 4 years.
Current ICC Certification as a Commercial Electrical Inspector.
Proof of NFPA 70E standards within the last 3 years.
Additional Requirements
May assume other duties as required.
May work various shifts, including day, swing, and night.
Open to work modified schedules, nights and weekends, as dictated by contractors.
Availability to work overtime as required to meet project deadlines.
Lowers must be local and available fully on‑site.
