FAR INSPECTIONS
FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but effective time management and meeting deadlines are crucial. Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over 9 years.
What is an Occupancy Verification?
Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties. The contractor’s role is to verify that the property is occupied and to report on its general condition using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
We contract with inspectors at a county level. You will be responsible for completing all inspections in your county, and in some cases, you may share the county with another inspector if the volume warrants it.
Responsibilities
Complete the inspection within 4 days after assignment.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in the designated app.
Spend extended periods driving, making numerous stops during the day within the assigned territory.
Requirements (to be considered you must have the following)
Computer with an internet connection
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus as you pay for your own gas)
Smartphone (Android or iPhone)
Printer
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate; rates vary based on county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, you will earn the equivalent of $30‑$40 per hour. Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural, you could complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month, working 2‑30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties have higher rates; higher‑volume counties have lower rates. The work is consistent month to month, and you can earn more as you become established, have greater availability, or are willing to cover a larger territory. No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
