Mortgage Field Services Inspector
FAR Inspections is seeking highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders.
Independent contractors earn predictable full-time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but an ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines is crucial. Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over 9 years.
Overview The primary purpose of the property inspection is to verify property occupancy and report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
Inspectors contract at a county level and are responsible for completing all inspections in their county. In some cases, inspectors may split a county with another inspector if volume warrants it.
Responsibilities
Complete most inspections in 5-6 minutes.
Submit the inspection within 4 days after it is assigned.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in a mobile app.
Spend extended periods driving with numerous stops during the day within the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with an internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus as you will pay for your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver's license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection is paid at a flat rate that varies by county and volume. Contractors earn an equivalent of $30-$40 per hour.
Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural, contractors may complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month, working 2 to 30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates, while higher volume counties have lower rates. Work is consistent month-to-month, and earnings increase with experience, availability, and territory coverage.
No additional mileage reimbursement is provided beyond the flat fee per inspection.
