Job Description AECOM is actively seeking a talented and experienced Mid-Level Mechanical Systems Inspector to support the US Army Corps of Engineers at the Watervliet Arsenal in Albany, NY. This onsite, full‑time position involves oversight of mechanical system construction, compliance with contract drawings, and ensuring quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Review plans and specifications, ensuring construction conforms to contract drawings.
Assess technical aspects of major design, construction, renovation, or alteration projects.
Review RFIs, submittals, BCOES reviews, and perform plan‑in‑hand reviews.
Inspect and test mechanical systems and equipment installed on projects.
Monitor and document building system commissioning.
Prepare correspondence, reports, and contract documents necessary for project completion.
Review controversial or complex change orders and claims to ensure documentation and justification.
Attend mechanical and plumbing meetings, providing input to meet RFP and design requirements, including LEED provisions.
Attend warranty inspections and assist in maintaining contractual warranties.
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent plus 10 years of construction practice and testing experience in large vertical DoD construction projects.
Minimum 3 years of commissioning experience.
US citizenship required.
Pass state and federal security/background checks.
Pass pre‑employment drug screen.
Ability to work in indoor/outdoor construction environments with uneven terrain and variable conditions (heat, dust, noise, moisture).
Occasional repetitive bending/stooping, fine hand movements, working at heights, lifting/elevating equipment up to 25 lbs.
Ability to work with arms above shoulder level, forceful gripping, climbing stairs, using portable ladders, wearing fall protection, and working in confined spaces.
Wear personal protective equipment: gloves, safety glasses/goggles, face shield, safety shoes/boots, hard hat, hearing protection, fall protection.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Knowledge of HVAC, piping, plumbing, and building control systems.
Experience using RMS.
USACE experience.

Compensation range: $50–$65 per hour, based on education, qualifications, experience, and location.
