General Summary
To assist with all dietary functions as directed in accordance with established dietary policies and procedures.
Qualifications
• Must be at least 18 years of age • Completion of High School education or otherwise show ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions • Must speak and understand English
• Patience, tact, enthusiasm and positive attitude toward the elderly • Ability to communicate with Residents, families, personnel and support agencies • Ability to remain calm under stress

Physical and Sensory Qualifications (with or without the aid of Mechanical Devices)
• Must be able to walk, stand, and bend • Must be able to lift, grasp, push, and pull • Must have fine hand coordination with or without mechanical devices • Ability to distinguish smells, tastes and temperatures • Must have the ability to Read and Write in English • Must have the ability to communicate with Residents, families, personnel, and vendors • Must have the ability to remain calm under stress
Dietary Functions
• Assist in the preparation and serving of meals and snacks • Follow portion control policy and procedures when preparing and serving meals • Follow established snack list, special diet information when preparing snack cart, including work areas, tables, appliances and floors • Assist in dish and utensil washing and cleaning including gathering soiled items from carts, trays and dining areas • Assist in ensuring proper storage of raw and leftover foods • Assist with the checking of trays for completeness and accuracy of menu and diet preferences before distribution to residents • Prep food supplies and utensils for the next meal • Follow Universal Precautions and sanitary, safety and infection control policies and procedures
Residents Rights Functions:
• Treat Resident’s with kindness, dignity and respect. • Know and comply with Residents’ Rights. • Help the residents exercise and/or protect their rights. • Help ensure that resident complaints are addressed. • Document and report all Residents complaints and grievances according to facility policy.
HIPAA
• Follow and adhere to facility’s policies and procedures implementing HIPAA requirements for the privacy and security of protected health information. • Protect privacy and confidentiality of information pertaining to the resident, employee, residence, facility information and records. • Use and/or disclose only minimum amount of Protected Health Information necessary to complete assigned tasks. • Report all suspected violation of company’s HIPAA policies or procedures to the Administrator.
Infection Control
• Follow infection control standards, policies and procedures • Follow hand sanitizing guidelines
Safety
• Maintain habits of good personal hygiene • Ensure that the department and all food storage and work areas are maintained in a clean and safe manner • Ensure that all supplies are properly maintained • Promptly report accidents, incidents, unsafe and hazardous conditions and equipment • Ensure cleanliness of dietary services work areas, storage rooms and utility area • Dispose of all food and waste in accordance with established policies and procedures • Wear protective clothing and equipment when handling infectious waste and/or blood or body fluids
Staff Development
• Attendance and participation in continuing in-service education programs and seminars • Develop and maintain a good working rapport with all personnel to ensure that food service is properly maintained
Administrative Functions
• Assist with implementing new policy and procedures • Ensure that dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies • Review menus prior to preparation of food • Assist with tray service production line to ensure meals are prepared in a timely manner • Inspect trays to ensure completeness and accuracy of menu and diet preferences
Equipment and Supply Functions
• Assist with inventorying and storing incoming foods, supplies and equipment as needed • Ensure that supplies for the next meals are available and ready for use
