Product Designer, Principal Associate – Capital One

Role Expectations
- Product Design Expertise: Leverage deep product design expertise across interaction, visual, and service design to elevate the design practice at Capital One. In collaboration with cross‑functional partners, use appropriate tools, platforms, frameworks, and design systems to create artifacts such as journey maps, blueprints, high‑fidelity designs, and prototypes.
- Human‑Centered: Champion the customer through the design process, factoring in data, research insights, scalability, technical constraints, and feedback.
- Business‑Focused: Understand and apply business and customer strategy, facilitate design process activities, and negotiate customer needs with business goals for harmonious outcomes.
- Problem‑Solving: Build an understanding of technology and data capabilities, emerging technologies, and use this knowledge to inform work, identify new opportunities, and navigate technical limitations.
- Collaboration: Foster relationships with partners, listen to diverse viewpoints, and collaborate to influence outcomes, break down silos, and gain alignment.
- Communication: Present work to varied audiences using a human‑centered approach that integrates design frameworks, data, and research insights to articulate insights and design decisions.
Basic Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience in a Product Design role.
- At least 3 years of experience with design and prototyping tools, such as Figma.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 4 years of experience in a Product Design role.
- At least 4 years of experience with design and prototyping tools, such as Figma.
- At least 4 years of experience collaborating with product, tech, and business partners.
- At least 4 years of experience working with an established design system.
- Experience working in heavily regulated, data‑heavy problem spaces.
Salary
McLean, VA: $127,500 – $145,500 (Principal Associate Design)
New York, NY: $139,100 – $158,700 (Principal Associate Design)
Richmond, VA: $115,900 – $132,200 (Principal Associate Design)
San Francisco, CA: $139,100 – $158,700 (Principal Associate Design)
