Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week, Salaried, rotating weeks on call Schedule: Monday through Friday, days Salary: $58,000 - $64,000 depending on experience Benefits: Eligible for some benefits Cover letter is required for application to be considered and may also be sent to hr@steppingstonesdc.org. Position Summary Responsible for managing all aspects of the Shelter Program including staff supervision and scheduling, day-to-day shelter operations, facility management, client support, budgeting, supply orders and volunteer coordination. Primary Responsibilities Staff Management Schedule and supervise shelter staff to make sure that client needs are met within the scope of program operations Coordinate with Executive Director to hire and conduct performance reviews of shelter staff Train staff and ensure processes and standards of professionalism and positivity are maintained, including that all shelter areas be kept clean, welcoming, and well organized Contribute to and enforce shelter policies for volunteers, staff and guests Schedule and train staff to ensure efficient, effective and welcoming shelter operations Design, supervise and follow guest case management procedures including: referral, screening, intake, orientation, goal setting and action plans, conflict management, exit interview and discharge, and follow-up Supervise Shelter food and supplies, inventory, ordering, receiving, properly storing and stocking Support and retain shelter volunteers through interactions, training, scheduling and recognition Adhere to best practices of shelter management as defined by the State of Wisconsin and comply with established grant requirements Research and implement new and improved means of meeting the needs of shelter guests and encouraging them to meet their own needs Oversee the design, implementation, and promotion of education and enrichment activities for shelter guests Administration Maintain case documentation and statistical information Manage budget and monitor expenses for grant reimbursement Do grant research, assist with applications, and do any necessary reporting for program financial support Routinely inspect and coordinate proper maintenance needs for building and grounds Network, work cooperatively, and maintain positive relationships with other service providers, affordable housing management, churches, schools, civic organizations, hotel staff, and law enforcement Participation in the Leadership Team including monthly budget and spending review, staff support and program reports Attend relevant meetings, trainings, conferences, etc. related to the program or agency, including serving on at least one committee and reporting to Board of Directors at least twice a year on the shelter program Maintain regularly scheduled office hours Other Agency Tasks Lead by example to set standards of collegiality and service, including interactions with other staff, volunteers, clients and community members Provide staff support for fundraising efforts, including attending events as needed Be an ambassador for the organization through community networking and speaking engagements Other duties as may be assigned by Executive Director, including helping with other Stepping Stones’ programs and agency tasks as needed Qualifications Required Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Human Development, Psychology or other related field Work, intern, practicum, or volunteer experience in a human services setting Ability to work with diverse populations and people in crisis, and to maintain strict confidentiality Commitment to the Mission, Vision, and Values Statement of Stepping Stones Experience working in a non-profit or social service setting, or working with underserved clients Skills Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills Self-motivated and able to work independently Possess a positive team approach in addressing clients’ needs and solving problems Willingness and ability to network and work cooperatively with community partners Assertive and able to enforce shelter policies and procedures Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail Proficient in Microsoft Office computer programs Grant writing and reporting experience Knowledgeable about community programs and resources Accountability Reports directly to the Executive Director Works with residents, area agencies, and other community programs in striving to reach the Stepping Stones Shelter program goals Partnership with Stepping Stones’ staff, volunteers, and the Board of Directors in fulfilling the organization’s mission Seniority level Mid-Senior level Employment type Full-time Job function Other Industries Health and Human Services
