Mechanical Engineer
Job Description:
Our client specializes in the design, manufacturing, deployment, and support of an advanced Unmanned Aerial System built for military and defense applications. The project is currently in an accelerated phase with key milestones approaching. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will collaborate closely with another mechanical engineer to design and develop components for this system. This is a hands‑on role requiring creativity, precision, and strong supplier coordination.
Responsibilities
Design and model parts using SolidWorks.
Work directly with suppliers for fabrication, carbon fiber components, tooling, and molds.
Create and approve engineering drawings, implement design changes, and manage change orders.
Oversee supplier progress, review first articles, reconcile discrepancies, and release parts to production.
Ensure timely execution of design and integration to meet project deadlines.
Essential Skills
3+ years of SolidWorks experience
Experience in aviation, specifically with carbon fiber
Engineering degree
U.S. citizenship
Additional Skills & Qualifications
UAV flying experience
Work Environment Work alongside one other mechanical engineer, 2-3 electrical technicians, and another electrical engineer who is also being hired. The position is on‑site in Howell with hours from 8‑5, which can be flexible. Occasionally, work on weekends may be required if approaching a deadline, but this is not typical. Travel may be necessary towards the end of the year if required.
Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Howell, MI.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $48.08/hr.
