Summary of Responsibilities The Real Estate Paralegal serves within the Merus legal department, providing transactional support for the corporate, construction and real estate teams. They will focus on preparing contracts, legal correspondence, and organizational documents and will assist with the management of existing processes and procedures to ensure consistency and accountability. They will also collaborate, both internally and externally, to build strong relationships and facilitate efficient legal transactions.
Essential Job Functions
Assist with corporate legal matters including creation of organizational documents, business registrations, and maintaining corporate records
Manage documents associated with construction transactions including agreements with Owners, subcontractors, and consultants
Support commercial financial transactions including the coordination of closing related documents
Prepare legal correspondence including notices, default letters, and terminations
Assist with construction claims including document retention, discovery and coordination with external counsel
Communicate with subcontractors and consultants in connection with contract review and execution
Create reports to identify performance with internal processes and procedures
Draft, review, and arrange signing of non‑disclosure agreements
Produce materials for legal training sessions and presentations

Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree and/or paralegal certificate preferred
Proficient in Microsoft office suite (with heavy emphasis on Word and Excel)
2‑5+ years commercial real estate and/or construction legal experience
Safety Hazard of the Job Normal safety hazards associated with office work, and with occasional observational visits to construction sites.
Physical Demands Low physical effort required to sit, stand at files, bend, stoop, lift, and walk. Maximum unassisted lift is 35 lbs. Average lift is less than 10 lbs. Requires ability to use a keyboard and monitor. Also requires the ability to communicate verbally, both in person and on the telephone. May require some travel by car.
Average inside office environment. Average office noise levels. No personal protective equipment is required. Ambient temperature is between 68F and 76F.
