About Houston Campus The campus, located in Spring, Texas, houses our Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses. It accommodates over 8,000 employees and features state‑of‑the‑art facilities designed for collaboration and innovation.

Responsibilities

Analyze, draft and negotiate oil and gas agreements: leases, joint operating agreements, farmouts, surface use agreements, division orders, purchase and sale agreements, midstream contracts.

Advise clients on regulatory compliance for exploration, production and transportation, interpreting regulations, land use agreements, permitting requirements and real property laws.

Monitor federal, state and local legal developments (FERC, BLM, EPA, Texas RRC) affecting upstream operations.

Provide legal counsel on exploration, production, operation and sales activities.

Advise on federal, state and private royalty obligations and payments, and support resolution of royalty disputes.

Provide legal advice on federal and state advocacy for legislation and rulemaking.

Support resolution of disputes with other owners and vendors.

Promote a culture of integrity and ethical behavior across the organization.

Qualifications

J.D. from an accredited law school.

Strong academic record (top 1/3 of class preferred).

Admittance to practice in at least one state (Texas preferred).

Deep knowledge of oil & gas law, property law, and mineral rights.

Experience providing commercial and operational legal support to an upstream oil & gas business unit.

Experience in regulatory issues, negotiation of oil & gas agreements, real property work, sales and royalty obligations.

Strategic thinker with sound judgment and risk management ability in a complex, global environment.

Proven ability to advise senior leadership on high‑impact matters.

High ethical standards and professional integrity.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate within a diverse, global team.

Client‑focused approach to risk‑management and problem‑solving.

Willingness to travel domestically as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

At least 7 years of legal experience.

Experience supporting an upstream energy company or business unit.

Experience with title opinions and oil & gas contract negotiations.
