The purpose of this job is to assist with coordinating daily shop activities and to perform repairs and maintenance on general ACCGov fleet vehicles and equipment. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, training and supervising employees, assigning work, processing work orders, maintaining parts inventory, repairing fleet vehicles and equipment, processing warranty claims, researching fleet defects, assisting the Administrator with daily operations of Fleet Management, and performing additional tasks as assigned. Work Schedule:

Monday-Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. May be required to work on religious holidays. Regular and predictable attendance is required. Must work cooperatively with others. When requirements include vehicle operation, responsible for the safety, readiness and operation of the vehicle and must abide by ACC's safe driving policy. Emergency Position

This position is designated as an emergency position that requires your attendance at work under all types of emergency conditions. Some examples of emergencies include inclement weather, utility failure, fire or other forced evacuations or as determined by the Manager. Automotive or Diesel Technical College degree with three years of automotive and heavy equipment maintenance and repair or related experience required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. One year of supervisory experience required. Must possess a valid Georgia Commercial Driver's License Minimum Class B with airbrakes and without restrictions within 6 months of employment. Must possess one relevant A.S.E. certification or have the ability to obtain within 6 months of employment. Must possess or be able to obtain security training for the supervision of inmate workers as set forth by the Georgia Department of Corrections Standard Operating Procedures. Duties

Supervises and evaluates assigned staff, handles all employee concerns, directing work assignments, counseling and disciplining employees when necessary, and completing employee performance appraisals. Assists with the daily operations of the Division including equipment repair scheduling, personnel scheduling, research of new technology and equipment, coordinate capital maintenance projects to maintain fleet reliability, establish a preventative maintenance schedule, etc. Coordinates and supervises interns and/or Work Based Learning (WBL) assigned to Fleet Management. Adjusts daily work schedule as needed to handle workload changes, assigning work to mechanics and reviews or approves completed work. Performs initial retrofit on equipment to evaluate problems, recommends improvements, allocates time needed for each retrofit, and prepares parts lists required for each retrofit. Assists with compiling and preparing the maintenance budget. Diagnoses problems with both automotive and heavy equipment pieces, including mechanical or electrical problems and performs corrective repairs and maintenance on all fleet vehicles. Performs minor body repairs to fleet vehicles (replacing glass, bumpers, repairing floors, etc.). Performs field repairs on vehicles and equipment; requests commercial wrecker service as needed. Coordinates all vehicle body damage repairs. Body repair coordination includes requesting parts and repair quotes, submitting quotes to safety and risk for purchase order approval, reviewing body repairs for approval. Operates all equipment to conduct functional inspections and road tests all department vehicles. Update and repair manufacturers diagnostic and repair software. Utilize laptop to access manufacturers diagnostic software to repair vehicle system faults as needed. Trains assigned positions on maintenance repairs and manufacturers procedures. Assists with locating parts, including maintenance of inventories; prepares parts costs estimates, tracks parts on order. Cleans shop area and maintenance equipment; maintains tools in good condition. Enter incoming/outgoing vehicle work orders and parts into computerized filing system. Welds and fabricates parts. Informs appropriate officials regarding damage to vehicles and equipment. Inspects paint and body repair work on damaged vehicles. Assists with the preparations of vehicles and equipment to be auctioned. Performs other related duties as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of the policies, procedures, and activities of the Central Services Department as they pertain to the performance of duties relating to the position of Shop Foreman. Knowledge of the terminology used within the department, as well as proficiency with computers. Knowledge of work orders, inspection forms, technical manuals, maintenance schedules, and procedures and methods as required in the performance of duties. Knowledge of the principles, operation, construction, and repair of gasoline and diesel engines, brake and suspension systems, transmission systems, air conditioning systems, wheelchair lifts, computer control engines, electronic destination signs, fire suppression systems, video surveillance systems, automated vehicle location systems, multiplex electrical systems, automatic passenger counting systems, diesel exhaust after treatment systems and federal commercial driver's license regulations. Skill in methods, materials, tools and techniques used in repair of unified government vehicles and equipment, preventative and corrective maintenance standards and procedures, electricity and hydraulics, diagnosing mechanical problems, and welding and fabrication. Skill in the use of maintenance equipment such as in‑ground hoists, brake lathes, 50‑ton presses, bench grinders, tire repair and balancing equipment, electronic test and diagnostic equipment, and air conditioning repair equipment. Skill in use of miscellaneous vehicles and equipment such as forklifts, two‑way radios, vehicle manufacturers diagnostic software. Skill in dealing with personnel concerns and employee morale, as well as read, understand, and interpret personnel reports and related materials. Knowledge of management, and human resource management/personnel practices, policies and procedures as necessary in the completion of daily responsibilities. Ability to review manufacturers service manuals to diagnose and repair general automotive/equipment fleet. Ability to compile, organize, prepare and maintain an assortment of records, reports and information in an effective manner and according to departmental and/or governmental regulations. Ability to keep abreast of any changes in policy, methods, operations, budgetary and equipment needs, etc. as they pertain to departmental and human resource/personnel operations and activities. Ability to communicate with manufacturers engineering staff and technical support staff to work through complex system failures. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, and other staff members. Ability to use independent judgment in routine and non‑routine situations. Ability to handle required mathematical calculations. Ability to plan, organize and/or prioritize daily assignments and work activities. Ability to comprehend and apply regulations and procedures of the department. Physical Requirements

Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including maintenance equipment, test and diagnostic equipment, etc. Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials. This position requires: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motion. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those of medium work.
