Survey Party Chief Ardurra is seeking a Survey Party Chief to join our teams in both Mesa, AZ and Phoenix, AZ office locations. This full‑time position requires at least 3 years of survey field experience, a good attitude, and the ability to work with a team.

Primary Function The Survey Party Chief supervises the work performed by surveying groups in the field. The role requires knowledge of, experience with, and the ability to operate a variety of survey instruments and software, including total stations, GPS receivers, data collectors, and automatic levels, to execute and document measurements for a range of surveys (boundary, topographic, construction layout, as‑built, quantity, control, special purpose, etc.).

Primary Duties

Knowledge of professional surveying practices and procedures; state and federal laws affecting land surveying and boundaries.

Proficiency with the operation and maintenance of Trimble total stations and Trimble GPS equipment, Trimble electronic and/or conventional levels and other measuring instruments.

Proficiency with electronic data collection systems and processes; ability to download data and perform complex survey computations using software programs such as Trimble Business Center and Autocad/Civil3D.

Thorough inspection and checking of field deliverables for accuracy and correctness, including field note sheets, electronic data collection files, and computation sheets.

Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in control networks, boundary and construction surveying.

3–5 years managing a field crew.

Must be able to travel out of town for up to a week at a time.

Working knowledge of Trimble equipment preferred.

Physical Demands The job requires using a machete, shovel, and sledgehammer or other appropriate tools. Lifting and carrying equipment up to 50 lbs over rough terrain may be required. Hand‑eye coordination, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and smelling may also be necessary. The employee may be required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers, speak, and hear, and to drive 30 to 60 miles daily.

Work Environment The work is performed outside in all types of weather conditions for extended periods. Terrain may be rough, steep, wet or swampy; dense vegetation and wildlife such as insects, snakes or animals may be encountered.
