Responsibilities
Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs for a variety of machines.
Set up and operate CNC equipment including lathes, 3-axis CNC milling machines, and chemical conversion stations.
Collaborate with production and engineering teams to improve cycle times, tool life, and part quality.
Utilize CAD/CAM software to design and simulate machining processes.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to tooling, programming, and machine performance.
Design and fabricate a wide variety of tools and fixtures that are used in the manufacture of various component parts and assemblies.
Work from verbal instructions, drawings, and specifications.
Use independent judgment and high technical skill, plus a good knowledge of shop mathematics and practices.
Lay out work using knowledge of parts, engineering practices, and design.
Coordinate production and prototyping scheduling with operations and engineering leads.
Inspect machined parts post fabrication for dimensional accuracy to meet print. Use tooling and measuring equipment as necessary.
Assess all internal tooling and capabilities. Apply improvements to expand in house capabilities.
Render technical assistance to manufacturing personnel as required.
Consult with engineering, manufacturing and other personnel in the solution of mutual problems.
Assist, direct and instruct other departmental personnel as directed by supervisor.
Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Seven (7) years of experience as a CNC machinist or certification from a state approved technical program for CNC machining.
Experience with ISO 9000.
Proficiency with CAD/CAM software, including Inventor CAM, Mastercam, or equivalent. Programming experience with FeatureCAM and GibbsCAM is a plus.
Ability to communicate technical data with colleagues.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Deep expertise in manufacturing engineering principles, and process validation techniques.
Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, quality systems, and safety.
