Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe DBA (DB2) to support a critical modernization initiative. The project involves expanding Unemployment Insurance (UI) Employer Account Numbers from 6 digits to 9 digits, requiring coordinated updates across DB2 databases, mainframe applications, and integrated systems. The DBA will play a key role in impact analysis, schema changes, performance tuning, data integrity, and production readiness, working closely with mainframe developers, state IT staff, and cross-platform teams. Responsibilities

Analyze existing DB2 schemas to assess impacts of expanding account number fields Modify table definitions, keys, indexes, and constraints to support 9-digit account numbers Support data conversion or dual-format handling strategies as required Review and optimize SQL performance impacted by structural changes Ensure data integrity, referential consistency, and compliance with UI system requirements Support batch and online application changes related to DB2 access Assist with test environment preparation and data validation Participate in deployment planning, production cutover, and post-implementation support Document database changes and support long-term maintainability Required Qualifications

5+ years of DB2 for z/OS DBA experience Strong expertise in DB2 database design, schema changes, and performance tuning Experience supporting high-volume batch and online transaction systems Familiarity with COBOL and CICS DB2 access patterns Experience working in z/OS environments Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Unemployment Insurance, tax, or benefits systems Experience performing data model changes impacting primary keys or identifiers Knowledge of VSAM, IMS, or data integration with distributed systems Experience in government or highly regulated environments Familiarity with mainframe change-management and release processes ECCO Select is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
