We are seeking an experienced Trade Compliance Specialist to help support our Team. The Trade Compliance Specialist ensures the company’s import and export activities comply with all applicable global trade laws and regulations. This role supports the business by managing customs compliance, trade documentation, classification, origin, and risk mitigation while enabling efficient and compliant global supply chains.
This is an onsite position and the Trade Compliance Specialist can work from any of our sites in Minneapolis, MN - Ames, IA, or Easley, SC. Read on to see if this is the right opportunity for you!
What You’ll Be Doing
Ensure compliance with international trade regulations (e.g. customs laws, export controls, sanctions, embargoes)
Develop and maintain Trade Compliance manuals and SOPs
Provide guidance to suppliers and internal stakeholders on compliance requirements
Monitor export control and import control recordkeeping and documentation requirements
Support customs valuation, duty management, and preferential trade programs (e.g. FTAs)
Monitor changes in global trade regulations and assess business impact
Support internal controls related to trade compliance programs
Maintains relationships with external customs counsel and customs brokers
Identify compliance risks and support mitigation actions
Support internal and external customs audits and inquiries
Manage corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives
Support new product introductions and supply chain changes from a trade compliance perspective
Develop and deliver trade compliance training to internal teams
Promote a strong compliance culture across the organization
What We're Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, International Trade, Business, Law, or related field
3–5 years of experience in trade compliance, customs brokerage, or customs
Experience in manufacturing or global supply chains preferred
Strong knowledge of customs regulations, HS classification, and origin rules
Familiarity with export control regimes (e.g. EAR, ITAR, EU Dual-Use)
Experience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP) and customs management tools
Strong analytical and documentation skills
High attention to detail and risk awareness
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
Structured, process-oriented mindset
Ability to work independently in a complex, global environment
