Position Summary
Dynamic Lifting Solutions is seeking an experienced
Fabrication Estimator
to support our custom fabrication and lifting equipment projects. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates by reviewing drawings, specifications, materials, labor, and subcontracted services. The estimator will work closely with engineering, sales, and fabrication teams to ensure projects are quoted accurately.
Key Responsibilities
Review customer RFQs, drawings, specifications, and scope of work
Prepare detailed cost estimates for fabricated steel and lifting equipment
Perform material takeoffs (plate, structural steel, pipe, hardware, coatings)
Estimate labor hours for fabrication, welding, machining, assembly, and testing
Obtain and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes
Coordinate with engineering and fabrication teams to validate scope and costs
Identify potential cost risks, value engineering opportunities, and schedule impacts
Support sales team with pricing strategies and technical clarifications
Maintain organized quote documentation and historical cost data
Assist with post-award cost tracking and estimate vs. actual analysis
Required Qualifications
Strong understanding of steel fabrication processes and welding methods
Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and engineering documents
Experience estimating labor, materials, and outside services
Proficient in Excel and estimating software or ERP systems
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with ASME, AWS, DNV or similar industry standards
Background in structural, marine, or industrial fabrication
Experience working with QuickBooks, Procore, or similar systems
Experience with lifting equipment, rigging, or engineered products
