The SCM Sustainability Specialist - Social plays a crucial role in advancing ABB Robotics’ commitment to sustainability through responsible sourcing practices. In this role, you will drive global sustainability initiatives within procurement, focusing on responsible sourcing, supplier performance, regulatory compliance, and social impact reduction. Your work will support cross-functional alignment and capability building across the global SCM organization.
Current Responsibilities
Provide leadership and support to the procurement organization on sustainability-related topics and requests, including contributions to supplier on-site auditing, sourcing decisions, supplier requests, and category strategies
Lead and coordinate social sustainability programs and initiatives within Supply Chain Management (SCM), such as Supply Chain Due Diligence Program and Responsible Minerals Program
Develop and deliver training and other upskilling activities for both local and global procurement teams, promoting responsible sourcing practices
Monitor and develop supplier sustainability performance through existing frameworks and support ongoing implementations
Track social impact of purchased materials and collaborate with procurement to initiate actions with suppliers to improve sustainability performance
Coordinate and support process adaptations to ensure compliance with current and emerging social regulations relevant to procurement, e.g. Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA), EU Battery Regulation (EUBR), EU Forced Labor Regulation (EUFLR) and Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD)
Serve as the SCM representative in global internal sustainability forums to facilitate cross-functional knowledge sharing and ensure alignment of sustainability objectives
Future Responsibilities
Support development and implementation of a responsible sourcing policy for the global SCM organization, building on existing work on sourcing decision support and supplier sustainability performance
Represent the organization at external forums, such as conferences, industry events or task forces to enhance organizational expertise, and stay informed on emerging sustainability trends
Qualifications Education & Experience
Master’s degree in supply chain management, business and human rights, human rights and international law or a related field
>5 years working experience in sustainability and/or supplier management
Experience in working in a global environment
Skills
Strong knowledge of international social sustainability guidelines and frameworks, such as the International Bill of Human Rights, UN Guiding Principles and OECD Guidelines
Strong knowledge of Conflict Minerals, other minerals of concern and social due diligence
Good knowledge of Supply Chain Management (SCM) and supplier management
Good knowledge of international supply chain and human rights due diligence legislation
Excellent skills in project management and execution, proven ability to drive change and implementation in a decentralized organization
Capable of acquiring and applying legal, technical and regulatory information
Excellent communication and writing skills in English, other languages, e.g. Mandarin, is a plus
Ability to use IS tools: Office 365, PowerBI, etc.
Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, to various audiences
Good networker and relationship-builder
Self‑motivated and organized
Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work both independently and in a team
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with EcoVadis or similar sustainability rating solutions
Experience with supply chain mapping tools
Social auditing experience
