Job Description

Coordinate, delegate, and supervise the work activities and resources necessary for extrusion in accordance with cost, quality, and quantity specifications.

Review processing schedules or production orders to make decisions concerning staffing requirements, work procedures, or duty assignments, considering budgetary limitations and time constraints.

Build, develop, motivate, and train extrusion team. Demonstrate and train team on proper extrusion processes, practices, and procedures.

Supervise and motivate employees, determine work schedules, sequences, and assignments based on work priority, quantity of equipment, and skill of personnel. Monitor employees' work levels and review work performance. Counsel employees about work‑related issues and help employees correct job‑skill deficiencies. Recommend personnel actions, such as hires, promotions, transfers, or disciplinary measures.

Monitor product standards, examining samples of parts or products to ensure finished products meet customer quality standards.

Conduct or arrange for worker training, including regular ongoing on‑the‑job training, and safety training to prevent, detect and correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedures and safety rules.

Confer with management, engineering, quality control, customers, or vendor representatives to coordinate work activities, resolve issues, or identify and review resource needs.

Monitor part inventories and the condition of work areas, tools and equipment to ensure adequate working conditions.

May compile, prepare and maintain operational or personnel records, such as time and production records. Responsible for verifying accuracy of daily timekeeping records and weekly labor management reporting for payroll purposes.

Ensures compliance to all regulatory requirements.

May train, mentor and transfer job knowledge to team.

Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Practice personal safety and follow all safety practices and procedures. Comply with all policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to management.

Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record‑keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.

Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods. Experience working in a team environment.

Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. Regularly practice time management and problem solving.

Knowledge of computerized inventory systems and production order processing software.

Ability to read a tape measure and use various hand tools.

Ability to work in a team environment and be detail‑oriented in completing work tasks.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

Ability to read and use a tape measure.

Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

Preferred: bilingual in Spanish and English.

Ability to speak clearly so others can understand you and to identify and understand the speech of another person.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Physical demands: employee is regularly required to lift up to 25 lbs, sit, stand or walk; occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Employee must have manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, work with fingers, and perceive attributes of objects and materials. Employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
