SUMMARY We are seeking a

TPO Underwriting Manager

for our growing TPO Division who thrives on developing people, strengthening collaboration, and guiding teams through change with clarity and confidence.

This role is ideal for an experienced residential mortgage Underwriting or Ops leader who enjoys coaching and training, understands the operational realities of TPO lending, and brings a thoughtful, steady approach to improvement. Also, helping teams perform at a high level while balancing service, risk, and operational integrity in an environment that continues to evolve.

As a key partner to TPO and Corporate leadership, this role will help shape how underwriting supports brokers and correspondents over time. Take a holistic view of underwriting operations, recognizing how upstream inputs and downstream handoffs affect underwriting efficiency, risk, and service, and driving improvements across those touchpoints.

This role requires strong industry awareness, curiosity, and a high-service mindset. Lastly, identify opportunities to enhance service delivery, scenario support, and underwriting collaboration through smart process refinement and effective use of technology, while preserving a high-touch experience.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Lead daily underwriting operations to ensure strong SLA performance, quality, and service levels.

Coach, develop, and support underwriters and support staff to build confident, high-service teams.

Manage pipeline flow and capacity to maintain efficiency and consistency as volume and complexity change.

Guide complex scenarios and loan restructures and serve as an escalation point when needed.

Step in to provide hands‑on underwriting or file review support during peak volume or coverage gaps to help meet SLAs.

Lead and support training initiatives for underwriting and support teams.

Strengthen front‑line scenario support by helping elevate Account Manager knowledge and readiness.

Maintain and support product guidelines, matrices, and broker‑facing underwriting resources.

Stay informed on industry trends and recommend improvements that enhance competitiveness and partner experience.

Collaborate closely with corporate teams and participate in cross‑functional initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or equivalent, required.

Bachelor's degree in business or related field, preferred.

5-10+ years of mortgage underwriting experience.

Prior leadership or senior‑level mortgage underwriting experience, preferably in TPO, Wholesale, or Correspondent channels.

Experience with broader mortgage Ops, including Processing and Closing, preferred.

Broad product expertise across Conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, Jumbo, Non‑QM, CES, and other specialty programs.

Strong scenario analysis, restructuring, and escalation management skills.

A passion for coaching, training, and developing high‑service teams.

Calm, solutions‑oriented leadership style in fast‑paced or high‑pressure environments.

Experience supporting underwriting process improvements, change initiatives, and technology adoption.

Broader operational knowledge across the loan lifecycle is a strong plus.

Strong organizational and communication skills with high attention to detail.

A proactive, curious mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
