As a
Sales Engineer , you will sit at the critical intersection of engineering, trust and safety, and customer success. You will be responsible for ensuring that as client processes 40,000+ daily transactions, the platform remains safe from fraud, collusion, and high‑risk activity. This is a "player‑coach" role (90% IC, 10% Lead) for a technical expert who thrives in a 0‑to‑1 startup environment.
What You Will Do
Guard the Platform:
Moderate transactions for chargeback risk, seller/buyer fraud, and collusion. Make critical decisions on fund holds, refunds, and seller onboarding reserves.
Build Infrastructure:
Own the KYC (Know Your Customer) and payout flows. Your goal is to make these extensible via public APIs that can be embedded or linked.
Content Moderation:
Fight spam and scams within DMs to maintain a high‑trust environment.
Drive Innovation:
Execute A/B experiments on checkout flows and KYC setups. Looking ahead, you will help architect Banking‑as‑a‑Service, debit card issuance, and crypto bridging.
Customer Interface:
Act as a technical expert for high‑value customers and partners, ensuring their technical needs are met with speed and clarity.
What We Are Looking For
Experience:
4–10 years as a Sales Engineer, Forward Deployed Engineer, or Customer Engineer within the Payments or Fintech sector.
Pedigree:
A Computer Science degree from a
Top 10 program
(e.g., Stanford, Waterloo, CMU). Experience at a top‑tier payments company like
Stripe
or a YC‑backed startup is highly preferred.
Technical Mastery:
Deep proficiency in
Ruby on Rails ,
Next.js ,
TypeScript , and
SQL .
Startup Mindset:
You are a "builder" who is excited to be hands‑on. You are relentlessly responsive to customer needs and can translate complex technical requirements into clear solutions.
Presence:
This role is based in our
Brooklyn, NY
office, 5 days per week.
