Description Under the direction of the Learning and Development Manager‑Mechanical, this position will assess, develop, and revise departmental educational content based on contractual, occupational, technical, or regulatory needs or requirements.

Experience

Degree in teaching, instructional design, instructional systems technology, educational technology, learning and design technology, or a related field.

Deep understanding of major ID models and adult learning methodologies.

Basic experience with multimedia authoring programs.

Learning/Competency Management System experience is helpful.

Interest and curiosity for the passenger transportation industry.

Development work split for this position: Instructor‑led 80‑90%, E‑learning 10‑20%.

Must provide a variety of work samples/portfolio prior to interview.

Knowledge and Skills

Apply instructional design principles and adult learning characteristics to design effective instruction.

Create interactive presentations, instructor guides, student guides, assessment tools, and lesson plans to meet departmental needs.

Transform complex, unorganized information into clear, multimedia instruction using text and visuals (including images, infographics, audio, video, etc.).

Create, publish, and manage eLearning content for the mechanical department.

Contribute to a performance support system (job aids, videos, just‑in‑time aids, etc.).

Write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts, and video scripts.

Strong knowledge of learning theories, instructional design models, lesson and curriculum planning skills.

Intermediate to advanced MS Office skills.

Basic Adobe (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) knowledge helpful.

Basic Camtasia knowledge.

Strong ability to adapt to and learn new technologies quickly.

Detail‑oriented with good organizational skills.

Key Accountabilities

Design and develop training programs and instructional materials (instructor‑led, web‑based, and other learning interventions) to address contractual, regulatory, or performance gaps.

Develop and implement an evaluation program to assess the effectiveness of instructional design products using Kirkpatrick’s four levels or equivalent.

Become a departmental Subject‑Matter Expert (SME) for the Learning Management System (LMS) and/or Competency Management System (CMS) and other learning technologies.

Provide overall instructional design quality control for all projects through formative, summative, or confirmative evaluation.

Ensure instructional modules follow the approved instructional design format.

Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of industry standards, best practices, and research‑based techniques.

Lead course development or revision projects by collaborating with team members and field SMEs to support timely delivery of accurate, effective, high‑quality content.

Manage course library for document control and ongoing content revisions.

Participate in testing and piloting new educational tools and features of new learning platforms or digital tools; make recommendations on their applications.

Perform other duties as assigned.
