Floating Pharmacist – Retail Pharmacy
Ochsner Health is seeking a highly qualified Floating Pharmacist to provide comprehensive pharmacy services in our retail setting. The position involves compounding and dispensing medications, managing drug therapies for specialty and transplant patients, providing drug information and patient education, overseeing technical and clerical staff, and acting as the manager on duty when the manager is absent.
Responsibilities
Provides immunizations and medication therapy management.
Compounds and/or dispenses medications and other extemporaneous products for outpatients, while also reviewing, interpreting and clarifying prescriptions for accuracy.
Provides information on drugs, their characteristics, dosages, indications, adverse reactions, etc. to medical staff.
Oversees technical and clerical staff on a day‑to‑day basis as required in the preparations and delivery of medications.
Actively participates in the planning and development of new projects and assists in developing/updating departmental policies and procedures.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge and ensures all licensures and certifications are up‑to‑date.
Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy, communication style, and patient education techniques.
Other related duties as required.
Qualifications Education:
Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D).
Work Experience:
Experience working with standard pharmacy and office equipment; experience working in a retail/community pharmacy.
Certifications:
Licensed to practice pharmacy in the State of Louisiana, or eligibility for licensure.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
Proficiency with Windows‑style applications and keyboard usage.
Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Physical and Environmental Demands Medium work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds frequently. Requires standing for prolonged periods, stooping, bending, reaching, and manual dexterity. No significant blood, body fluid, or tissue exposure under normal routine.
Potential exposure to hazardous medications and waste due to handling of contaminated materials. Must use mechanical lifting devices or team lifts when appropriate.
Remote Work Eligibility Individuals who reside in Colorado, California, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington, and Washington D.C. are not eligible for remote work positions.
