The Electrical Superintendent will contribute to reach maximum availability/reliability of the electrical, instrumentation and automation equipment and installations in the plant by performing the appropriate corrective, preventive and predictive maintenance actions at the lowest optimum cost and in compliance with environmental, health & safety regulations.

Compensation The typical range associated with this role is currently $130,000 - $145,000 annually.

Responsibilities

Oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in buildings and construction projects

Ensure compliance with national and local electrical codes

Coordinate with project managers, architects, and other construction professionals to develop and implement electrical plans and timelines

Schedule, coordinate, and supervise all onsite electrical subcontractors for cement projects

Plan, assign, and coordinate project work with various electrical subcontractors to ensure continuous project workflow

Work closely with electricians and other team members to achieve project goals

Facilitate communication and collaboration among team members to ensure efficient execution of electrical projects

Ensure that electrical work meets quality standards and safety regulations

Monitor progress, address any issues, and make necessary adjustments to keep projects on track

Guarantee compliance with safety and environment policies for electrical maintenance personnel

Establish a safety culture and tackle specific actions to ensure health and safety prevention during maintenance activities

Contribute to plant housekeeping and cleanliness

Plan and direct the work of the electrical supervisor, automation, and systems engineers

Determine and schedule the necessary actions of corrective and preventive electrical, instrumentation, and automation maintenance in coordination with the Mechanical and Preventive Maintenance Superintendent and Supervisors to ensure proper functioning of electrical, instrumentation, and automation equipment and installations

Ensure the electrical maintenance team's full-time readiness to tackle emergencies or urgent breakdowns efficiently

Plan annual electrical maintenance plans according to preventive maintenance plans or scheduled corrective maintenance actions

Ensure outage plans are implemented by the electrical supervisor, automation and systems engineers and their reports or contractors assigned the tasks

Manage execution of maintenance activities by third parties

Cooperate with Production and Process departments in the execution of complex maintenance actions

Support the Maintenance Superintendent with maintaining the budget, ensuring planning and follow-up of costs; implement effective and systematic solutions to achieve budget and to meet or exceed targets

Communicate and implement regulations, company goals, local permits, policies and procedures; optimize the internal processes and structure

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Instrumental Engineering preferred

Will consider related work experience in lieu of a degree.

Requirements/Qualifications

Minimum of ten years of electrical experience in cement, construction materials, or related manufacturing industries

Strong knowledge and skills in the areas of electrical design, power distribution and systems, electrical equipment, motors and motor controls, automation, instrumentation, and control systems

Required Computer and Software Skills: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.), PLC, Preferred Siemens and Allen Bradley. Other Systems Experience Analyzers: Tekran, Siemens, Siemens Medium and Low Voltage Variable Frequency Drives

Strong knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC)

Will be required to travel to company facilities and other meeting locations

Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently

Must be able to work cooperatively with plant and corporate personnel

Ability to understand and administer a collective bargaining agreement

Ability to communicate effectively across departments, as well as up and down the chain of command

Preferred:

Professional Engineering license

Experience in cement, asphalt, ready mix, and aggregate plant operations

SAP experience

Conditions of Employment Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) registration/clearance as well as ongoing alcohol and drug testing.
