Position: Mortgage Underwriter
Location: Mentor, OH (In-Office)
Schedule: Part-Time — 16 hours per week
Work Days: Monday & Tuesday or Thursday & Friday
Compensation: $70,000 annually (prorated)
Start Date: September 30
Our client is seeking a part-time Mortgage Underwriter to support increased production volume within their mortgage department. This role is responsible for evaluating and decisioning mortgage loan applications in compliance with established policies, FNMA guidelines, and applicable government regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Review and evaluate mortgage loan files to ensure borrower, property, and loan terms meet underwriting standards
Approve, suspend, or decline loan applications based on guidelines
Review documentation including 1003 and 1008 forms, title reports, trust documentation, and insurance policies
Ensure closing documents are complete, accurate, and compliant within required timeframes
Communicate underwriting decisions clearly and professionally to all involved parties
Maintain strict adherence to regulatory and internal compliance standards
Respond to messages and correspondence within 24 hours
Meet established quality and productivity expectations
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of mortgage underwriting experience or related lending role
Working knowledge of FNMA underwriting guidelines
Strong communication and organizational skills
Proficiency with underwriting systems such as Desktop Underwriter (DU)
Ability to work on-site and maintain consistent part-time schedule
