Consulting Actuary / Client Relationship Manager (CRM)

Full‑time position located in one of the following cities: San Francisco, Los Angeles, Phoenix, or Denver. The CRM will support a book of business in the West Region with emphasis on the Public Sector market.

Overview

The CRM plays a critical role in driving growth of the public sector retirement benefits consulting business. Responsibilities include client management, project management, and new business development across Segal’s consulting services.

Key Accountabilities

  • Understand client issues, anticipate needs, and navigate potential solutions.
  • Establish rapport and build effective working relationships within client organizations.
  • Innovate client deliverables and strengthen industry presence.
  • Provide high‑level creative, innovative and strategic expertise on retirement benefits matters.
  • Apply advanced actuarial concepts, methods, and applications.
  • Collaborate with Segal teams to maintain influential client relationships.
  • Lead and/or participate in new business development initiatives targeting the Public Sector market.
  • Guide client service teams and mentor staff, contributing to intellectual and professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 9 years’ experience in employee benefits consulting or related professional services with retirement plan exposure in the public sector.
  • Undergraduate degree (minimum).
  • ASA accreditation required; FSA preferred.
  • Immediate readiness for direct client contact.
  • Strong business acumen and leadership ability.
  • Proven success as a relationship builder and collaborator.
  • Experience managing client relationships and delivering complex information in actionable terms.
  • Analytical skills to identify issues and develop solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed.

Compensation

  • Base Salary: USD $121,000 – $180,000.
  • Discretionary performance bonus based on company profitability and employee performance.
  • Competitive benefits package.
