Field Service Technician - Stellantis – Sterling Heights, MI Plug Power

– Non‑Exempt (hourly) – Field Service Department – Full‑time

Position Summary

The Field Service Technician supports our fuel cell products installed in electric lift trucks. Responsibilities include performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting breakdowns, installing and servicing fuel cells at customer sites, reporting breakdown events, ordering parts, and maintaining fuel cell operations at a specific location. The role requires strong technical skills and excellent communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

Maintenance and service of fuel cells at customer sites.

Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and evaluations to keep fleet operational.

Perform specialized service procedures, including field retrofits, software and hardware upgrades.

Provide on‑call and emergency support service to customers as required.

Purchase tools, equipment, and parts for customer service.

Diagnose and maintain high‑pressure hydrogen storage, 480 VAC, flammability, cryogenic liquid, high‑pressure gas and fueling systems.

Communicate with customer personnel and hydrogen suppliers regarding aftermarket support.

Provide regular feedback to regional service representatives about performance and maintenance issues.

Complete administrative duties and documentation: incident reports, service logs, inventory maintenance, site and system documentation.

Enforce safety procedures in the field or customer sites.

Travel as required for business needs; expected to drive safely and adhere to traffic laws.

Represent Plug Power professionally at all times.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; technical electrical coursework preferred.

Three (3) or more years of mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience.

Formal training and education may be considered in lieu of direct experience.

Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, ability to operate a motor vehicle safely.

Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted.

Knowledge of lift truck operation and applications is highly preferred.

General mechanical aptitude required.

Computer and software skills: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook.

Dynamic interpersonal skills and effective communication with diverse audiences.

Excellent verbal and written communication.

Creativity in solving technical problems.

Ability to work independently.

Uncompromising dedication to quality.

Exceptional time‑management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks.

Timely and reliable.

Technician must provide own standard set of tools; Plug Power will supply fuel‑cell tools.

Pay Rate

$24.00 – $28.00 per hour
