Overview of Responsibilities

Originate first mortgages through pre‑qualification interviews, loan application packages, and necessary documentation.

Communicate credit extension policies in line with MSGCU and secondary investor guidelines.

Meet production expectations and serve members, prospective members, builders, developers, and real estate agents promptly and professionally.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Maintain production levels at or above documented required funding goals and minimum production standards via consultative phone selling, prospecting, and member service.

Complete phone mortgage origination via inbound and outbound calls using various lead sources (referrals, call lists, phone queue, self‑generated, etc.).

Cultivate and maintain internal and external referral sources through loan closings, networking events, cold calling, follow‑up, and referral generation.

Implement effective strategies to ensure members have a positive experience with MSGCU and our products/services at every touch point.

Perform loan origination activities, including accurate reading, interpreting, and applying financial and numerical information.

Adhere to federal and state regulations, secondary market requirements, and MSGCU policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Show highly skilled persuasive sales and effective follow‑up to maximize lead pull‑through to closing.

Use a consultative approach and ask high impact questions to identify and meet member needs, both perceived and unperceived.

Travel throughout the branch network to strengthen relationships, collaborate with branch teams, and increase mortgage loan growth.

Perform follow‑up work to achieve conditional approval within established time frames.

Provide consistent communication informing all parties of loan transaction from pre‑approval through funding.

Maintain referral sources and member relationships after closing through thank‑you letters, emails, phone calls, text messages, and in‑person visits when possible.

Familiarity with secondary mortgage market underwriting, pricing, operations, and consumer lending regulations.

Essential Preparation and Experience

High school diploma or GED.

Experience:

1 year mortgage origination experience, or

2 years mortgage banking experience or related lending experience, or

Associate degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Accounting, or Finance, or

3 years analytical finance experience.

Nationwide Multistate Licensing System & Registry (NMLS) licensure highly preferred.

Working Conditions

Office/branch environment with minor noise or temperature variations.

Occasional travel within MSGCU’s service area.

Exposure to hazardous conditions such as robbery; receive annual security training.

Work involves sitting most of the time with brief periods of walking or standing; may lift up to 10 pounds.

Standard hours align with branch and administrative office hours; occasional weekends or evenings required.

Compensation and Benefits

Base pay: $19.25 per hour.

Variable compensation incentives available.

Medical, dental, and vision benefits start day one (HSA‑eligible plan of your choice).

401(k) contribution: 3% from MSGCU plus 100% match of first 7% contributions for employees 21+.

12 paid holidays and up to 120 hours of PTO in first year (pro‑rated).
