Position Summary The

Alumni Engagement Specialist- Alumni Networks and Educational Experiences

is a new role designed to support a growing team of four pillar areas of alumni engagement: Affinity Networks, International Engagement, Lifelong Learning, and Alumni Travel. This role includes cross‑functional responsibilities connected to a primary pillar area but with broader future application throughout all Engagement program areas. It will help build and maintain support structures critical to growing broader alumni, friend and fan engagement with Purdue’s 600,000+ community of Boilermakers globally.

Responsibilities

Establish and support Affinity Interest Networks to engage alumni seeking future formal recognition as an alumni Affinity Network

Establish and manage Alumni Experts Roster, engaging self‑identified expert volunteers for mentorship, speaker, panel, recruitment, and other alumni representation roles; recruit new volunteers and steward past volunteers

Facilitate Alumni Connections for ANEE program areas

Outreach to new alumni through student organization outreach, targeted communications, and programs (e.g., summer send‑offs, young alumni travel)

Recommend and carry out new membership engagement opportunities with Purdue Alumni Association, coordinating with relevant PFLF units and using member engagement interest surveys

Assist with International Faculty Ambassador program and international travel receptions, connecting alumni visitors to local alumni worldwide

Oversee BrightCrowd (alumni e‑books) support and implementation in ANEE, Engagement, and PFLF programs; create new books, manage invitations and photos, and handle data flows to CRM

Manage necessary data and reporting for relevant program areas

Use Salesforce Ascend and Analytics to access alumni data and request custom reports (e.g., travel mailing lists)

Perform routine data processing: alumni contact updates, event registration reports, non‑alumni data transfer, contact reporting, database coding, and engagement reporting

Establish and create ongoing contact campaigns targeting international alumni audiences (BrightCrowd, social media ads, PDOG, related contests, ambassador geographic area list projects)

Support team initiatives including website development/maintenance, social media outreach, and other administrative tasks

Provide excellent and timely customer service to volunteers, alumni, university partners, and other constituents

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to interact with a wide range of individuals and collaborate in a team environment

Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills, ensuring accuracy for all program and event details

Ability to multitask, supporting multiple volunteers, networks, programs, and initiatives simultaneously

Self‑directed; able to work independently and collaboratively, taking initiative and responsibility for tasks with minimal supervision

Flexible and solution‑oriented

General understanding of Advancement (alumni relations, development, etc.) as a profession

Familiarity with Salesforce CRM is preferred but not required

Ability to work in a hybrid capacity, up to four days a week in office

Required Education, Experience and Benefits Summary

Bachelor's degree required

Minimum of one year of customer service, project management, event planning, and/or program administrator experience

Self‑directed and able to work autonomously

Experience working in higher education settings

Experience in a relationship‑focused role in a professional setting

Prior cross‑cultural communication or travel, living, or studying abroad for extended periods preferred
