Job Summary The Credentialing Specialist is responsible for overseeing tasks and processes that facilitate the credentialing of initial and reappointment applications for medical staff, professional health staff, and allied health staff. The role manages timelines, workflow, data accuracy, final verification reviews, correspondence, committee preparation, communication of recommendations, audit reporting, project facilitation, and initiation of provider applications.
Responsibilities
Oversee timelines and workflow processing for reappointment cycles.
Prioritize work to meet anticipated start dates and reappointment expiration.
Ensure application completeness and identify issues requiring additional information or investigation.
Oversee accuracy of data entry and verification requests.
Perform final review of processed verifications for quality and content.
Develop correspondence to obtain additional information as needed.
Facilitate committees in preparation of agenda materials and follow‑up of recommendations.
Coordinate communication of final credentialing recommendations to all parties.
Generate audits and reports to support/document the verification and credentialing process.
Facilitate projects and initiate the provider application process.
Model excellent customer service, communicate effectively with diplomacy, and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; Associate’s degree and 3 years of applicable experience may be considered.
Minimum of two years of experience in credentialing, provider services, administrative support, business or healthcare experience preferred.
