Position Overview: The Illinois Commission on Equity and Inclusion (CEI) is seeking to hire an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as an Intake Specialist. Under general direction of the Certification Section Manager, serves as a staff assistant for the agency. Duties will include the intake and evaluation of applicant files for the BEP program as well as conducting vendor outreach. Essential Functions Under general direction of the Certification Section Manager of the Business Enterprise Program (BEP) for Minorities, Females and Persons with Disabilities, serves as a staff assistant performing functions relative to certification, compliance, outreach, public affairs, vendor relations, and BEP Council relations for the program. Reviews applications for completeness from firms to ensure the information provided by each applicant meets the criteria of the Business Enterprise Program regulations. Serves as representative of BEP attending outreach programs. Assists the Certification Section Manager by organizing goals and objectives for supportive program functions. Assists the Certification Section Manager or BEP Deputy Director in responding to certification appeals, Office of Governmental Affairs legislative analyses relative to the BEP. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. Minimum Qualifications Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with courses in public or business administration. Requires one year of professional experience in a public or private organization, or completion of an agency approved professional management training program. Preferred Qualifications Prefers two (2) + years of professional experience developing and maintaining working relationships with management teams, vendors, and the public. Prefers two (2) + years of professional experience responding to vendor inquiries and other business-related communications for a program. Prefers two (2) + years of professional experience evaluating business enterprise vendor certification criteria. Prefers two (2) + years of professional experience utilizing MS Office Suite word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and email applications.
