Responsibilities
The Leave and Accommodation Manager II manages the complete cycle of medical leaves of absence from initial requests to return to work, and the cycle of the interactive process for accommodation requests for their assigned facilities. This includes following required processes under FMLA and state leave laws, as well as the interactive process under ADAA, PWFA and state disability laws. Case management involves supporting employees seeking medical leave or accommodation, answering process questions, conducting intake, determining eligibility, sending notifications, seeking documentation, leading interactive discussions, sending determinations, explaining benefit impacts, and processing leave‑of‑absence pay requests. Extensive use of phone, email, Outlook and case‑management system is required. The role supports Leave and Accommodation Manager I and may assist with Family Care, Military, Pregnancy, Bereavement, and union/company leave requests and escalations. Qualifications
High school diploma. Five years’ experience in Human Resources, in a benefits, leave management or generalist position, with at least three years in interactive process administration. Strong knowledge of federal and state leave and disability laws, including ADAAA, FEHA, PWFA, FMLA, CFRA, CA PDL, NJFLA; experience with California leaves and accommodations is required. Comprehensive understanding of the interplay between federal and state leave and disability laws. Proficiency in absence‑management integrated workflows, return‑to‑work strategies, and interactive process workflows. Knowledge of benefits impacts while on leaves of absence. Knowledge of leave‑of‑absence pay integration with wage‑replacement benefits. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Ability to build and maintain professional relationships through strong interpersonal skills and sound professional judgment. Excellent written and verbal communication and effective presentation skills at all organizational levels. Solid Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. Experience in healthcare environments with high volumes of leave and accommodation cases. Experience with Lawson, JBDev or leave‑case‑management software preferred. Experience managing leave and accommodation across the United States. Experience working in union environments.
