Senior Systems Administrator – Avum Inc.
Avum is seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Administrator to lead enterprise system operations, overseeing complex network infrastructures and implementing advanced automation solutions to ensure optimal performance, fault tolerance, and zero downtime. This role serves as the senior technical authority for system administration, ensuring the availability, reliability, and performance of mission‑critical systems supporting customer applications.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and oversee enterprise system operations, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, fault tolerance, and high availability.
Serve as the senior technical leader for administration supporting mission‑critical DoD contracting operations.
Design, implement, and maintain enterprise middleware solutions to support application deployment, database connectivity, and system interoperability.
Orchestrate comprehensive middleware administration, including configuration, tuning, testing, security hardening, and lifecycle management.
Implement advanced automation tools to enhance system performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.
Ensure zero‑downtime enterprise‑scale application management across cloud‑based Government systems.
Support integration with DoD contracting systems, ensuring seamless data flow through Government enterprise middleware platforms.
Enforce rigorous quality control, security, and compliance protocols aligned with DoD and Government standards.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve complex system issues and ensure operational continuity.
Administer and secure large‑scale applications in high‑availability environments.
What You Will Need
U.S. Citizenship is required.
An active Top Secret security clearance is required.
Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in a technical discipline and at least 10 years of specialized experience. Specialized experience is defined as progressive experience in Information Processing, encompassing multiple disciplines and diverse hardware/software solutions.
A minimum of four (4) years of hands‑on experience installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting software systems.
At least five (5) years of progressive experience administering enterprise middleware solutions (e.g., JBoss Fuse / Fusion Middleware).
Minimum three (3) years of hands‑on experience in application deployment, testing, performance tuning, and security.
Experience working across multiple operating systems.
Familiarity with additional programming and scripting languages.
Experience supporting at least two (2) projects within large organizations responsible for administering, operating, maintaining, and securing large‑scale applications.
If You Have This, It’s a Plus
Current cloud security certification from major cloud providers (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, AWS, Azure, or equivalent).
Experience with Government cloud environments and enterprise DevSecOps practices.
High‑availability architecture and disaster recovery planning.
Automation and orchestration tools.
DoD compliance frameworks and security standards.
