About the Role Act as a cashier and/or stocker and lead the store in the absence of the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager. Assist with plan‑ogram implementation, customer service, inventory management, and store operations to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
Unload trucks, receive, open and unpack cartons and totes.
Stock merchandise; rotate, face, and build displays.
Restock returned and recovered merchandise.
Order zones and drop‑shipment categories as assigned.
Assist in plan‑ogram implementation and maintenance.
Provide customer assistance, locate merchandise.
Maintain cleanliness: dust and mop floors, clean restroom and stockroom.
Greet customers, operate cash register & scanner, bag merchandise.
Collect payment, make change, handle final checks.
Set up sidewalk displays and front‑end displays.
Execute superior customer service leadership.
Follow company policies & procedures (SOP, Handbook).
Open/close store under Area Manager direction.
When acting in the absence of the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager, authorize refunds/overrides, count register, bank deposits, monitor cash levels, secure keys, maintain cashier accountability, monitor cameras, and complete required paperwork.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; six months supervisory experience or related training preferred.
Basic math skills – addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages.
Knowledge of cash handling procedures, cashier accountability, deposit control.
Experience with IBM cash register functions.
Familiarity with cash, facility and safety control policies.
Effective interpersonal and oral & written communication skills.
Understanding of safety policies and practices.
Ability to read and follow plan‑ogram and merchandise presentation guidance.
Working Conditions
Frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling.
Physical handling of merchandise, equipment, push/pull roll‑tainers.
Proper lifting up to 40 lbs, occasional up to 55 lbs.
Occasional ladder climbing up to 6 ft.
Fast‑paced environment, moderate noise.
Occasional exposure to outside weather.
May require driving—own transportation—to make bank deposits, attend meetings, travel to other stores.
