Overview The Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) will be responsible for all foot and ankle related outpatient diagnoses. Will work closely with our board‑certified foot and ankle surgeons. 2‑3 month training for all new hires.
Schedule: office based only, Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with one ½ day administrative time. No nights, no weekends and no holidays.
The PA/NP will work under the general supervision of their Medical Director, all physician partners, and their APP Manager, in WakeMed Physician Practices to deliver competent medical care to patients at WakeMed. This position may include both inpatient and outpatient care depending on service needs and is outlined in the clinical job expectations. Duties may include completion of referrals, consults, daily patient rounds, daily notes, discharge summaries, procedures, clinic notes, pre and post procedure care, prescribing and patient care follow‑ups. Will work closely with other healthcare providers in a collaborative multidisciplinary approach to maximize the care we provide to our patients. As a healthcare professional, will function as an educator for PA/NP/CNM/DO students from healthcare education programs.
Within this position the PA or NP will maintain the scope of practice to be consistent with the policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines governed by the North Carolina Medical Board and any other federal or state regulatory agencies, as well as the policies and procedures of WakeMed. Additional certifications such as Advanced Life Support may be required based on clinical area of practice, this will be outlined in the clinical job expectations and reviewed annually during the annual review process. Licensure Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Required. Basic Life Support Required - Within 6 Months of Hire.
Education Bachelor’s Degree in Physician Assistant or Master’s Degree Physician Assistant Required or Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree Nursing Required.
Experience 1 Year Orthopedic Clinical Experience Required - Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
