Open Home Foundation
Marketing Copywriter – Open Home Foundation
We are looking for a Marketing Copywriter based in Europe to join our Marketing department. The department connects the Foundation’s projects, such as Home Assistant and ESPHome, with the people who benefit from them most: users, contributors, and partners. By making it easier for people to discover, use, and get involved with our projects, the Open Home ecosystem can grow in a way that aligns with our values.
What You Are Going to Do
Work on a wide range of content, including websites, blogs, guides, tutorials, print, newsletters, video, and social media.
Write all content in a compelling, clear, and error‑free way.
Edit and proofread content created by others, contributing to overall quality and consistency.
Work together with the entire creative team—designers, copywriters, and web developers—to ensure content projects are cohesive and properly reflect brand voice, messaging, and target audiences.
Translate technical information into simple, persuasive, and helpful content.
Support internal and business communications where needed.
What You Need to Have
Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
Ability to write in an organization’s brand tone and voice.
Proven experience writing for technical products or companies in multiple formats (e.g., blogs, emails, landing pages, ads, social, etc.).
Ability to distill complex technical topics into accessible, user‑focused copy.
A strong portfolio of written work.
Ability to use Git and GitHub.
Professional fluency in English: excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
European residency: you must be currently based and eligible to work within Europe.
It Would Be Great if You Also Have
Experience working with marketing frameworks such as messaging houses and copy matrices.
Familiarity with open source culture.
A native‑level English‑speaking background.
A passion for smart homes and automation.
Experience as a Home Assistant user.
What We Offer You We are a fully remote organization that employs people from all over the world. This is a full‑time position for 40 hours per week. Because we are fully remote, there is no fixed schedule; we try to ensure at least three hours of overlap in the workday. You will report to the Lead of Marketing, who is based in the Netherlands.
Five weeks (twenty‑five days) of paid time off.
Fourteen days of paid sick leave if your country/laws treat them as unpaid.
Six weeks of paid and six weeks of unpaid parental leave to be used in the first year after birth. We will provide the missing days if your country/laws do not provide such compensation.
A budget for your work hardware once you start. After three years, you may keep this equipment for personal use.
A 50% contribution to your internet connection fee at your home workspace.
If you are currently working on Home Assistant-related side projects, you can spend work time maintaining it.
For a Marketing Copywriter in our primary operating countries, the approximate yearly compensation will be the following:
Netherlands: 49,000 EUR
UK: 42,500 GBP
Spain: 36,000 EUR
Portugal: 33,500 EUR
