Associate Claims Specialist – Commercial Claims No Fault Adjuster Liberty Mutual Insurance is seeking an Associate Claims Specialist to work in a hybrid setting that blends remote and in‑person collaboration. The role focuses on thorough investigations, liability and compensability decisions, loss evaluation, settlement negotiations, and claims inventory management for commercial property, casualty, and disability accounts.

Pay Range Base Salary: $50,000.00 /yr – $94,000.00 /yr (actual pay depends on skills and experience; discuss with recruiter).

Description The Associate Claims Specialist conducts investigations of new claims, reviews first reports and supporting materials, determines appropriate points of contact, establishes action plans, evaluates loss and liability, negotiates settlements, confirms coverage, and uses loss management techniques such as Immediate Contact Plans and L9 checks. The position includes comprehensive training, mentorship, and on‑the‑job experience. Remote work is available; if within 50 miles of a GRS claims Hub, the candidate must visit the office twice a month.

Responsibilities

Investigate new claims by reviewing first reports of loss and supporting documents, identify primary contacts, gather necessary information, and post files accordingly.

Develop action plans based on case facts, best practices, protocols, jurisdictional requirements, and available resources.

Manage a portfolio of property/casualty and disability claims (e.g., workers’ compensation, general liability, commercial automobile, property, group benefits), evaluate compensability and liabilities, and negotiate settlements within defined limits.

Create accurate loss cost estimates using available resources, special service instructions, and market protocols.

Confirm or deny coverage based on investigation facts and advise policyholders on appropriate next steps.

Apply loss management techniques such as Immediate Contact Plans, L9 checks, Disability Management, open‑end releases, and first‑call settlements.

Maintain files and provide comprehensive reports as required.

Qualifications

Effective interpersonal, analytical, and negotiation skills.

Clarity in providing information with appropriate detail.

Ability to build and maintain professional relationships.

Previous success in a customer service or retail environment preferred.

Analytical background from a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

Knowledge of legal liability, insurance coverage, and medical terminology is helpful but not mandatory.

State licensing may be required in some locations.
