Position Overview
Apollo seeks a Transaction Manager to provide the Consumer & Residential Credit team with support primarily related to business purpose residential mortgage loans, consumer loans and residential mortgage loans as well as structures and lending facilities related to such loans. This is a hands-on role that requires senior level experience with residential mortgages, asset management and technical infrastructure maintenance. Will require fluency in commercial contracts, term sheets and agreements as well as advanced skills in Excel and familiarity with business programming languages and database management such as SQL, Tableau and PowerBI. Must be able to work independently, design business processes, oversee and develop junior level team members and autonomously manage day to day operations.
Responsible for primary relationship management with investors and sellers; establishing timelines for due diligence review and settlement deliverables
Act as liaison between sellers, investors and internal business stakeholders such as traders, legal counsel, quant team, accounting, treasury and servicing departments
Work with Trading Desk, Finance, Legal and Trade Support to facilitate purchase and sale of assets
Normalize reporting across sellers and monitor accuracy of data
Create and oversee infrastructure designed to acquire assets, report and manage risk
Suggest and oversee improvements in technologies and efficiencies used to during due diligence and post-closing activities
Take a leading role in creating and managing the architecture of our third-party mandate infrastructure, including being a primary point of contact for project management teams
Oversee timely and accurate reconciliation of loan files
Work with middle office to manage asset-backed lending facilities including review and verification of periodic funding/payment date reports, facilitating draw requests and compliance with transaction triggers and covenants
Coordinate with internal stakeholders including accounting, operations, and back office in setting up new investments and reporting
Take an active role in creating and maintaining collateral databases, trade blotters and various business critical reports
Take an active role in improving automation processes with a creative eye to leveraging database programs to generate automated reports for ongoing asset management, loan exception processes and diligence review
Take a senior role in managing FHLB mortgage lending relationship
Take an active role in marketing and creation of pitch books and internal presentations
Oversee third party servicers and due diligence/servicing managers including:
Monitor due diligence process to ensure adequate and timely resolution of investor's conditions and exceptions
Ensuring that servicers have appropriate accounts set up and reconcile to allocations
Providing appropriate wire instructions by account
Making sure live loan reporting is occurring and data requests are accommodated
Aggregation of monthly remittance reports
Coordinate servicing transfers
Loss mitigation supervision
Oversee sollateral management including:
Coordinate collateral due diligence process prior to acquisition
Facilitate resolution of trailing documents with Seller and Custodian
Work with counterparties and monitor trailing documents and repurchase deadlines
Coordinate obtaining final assignments and endorsements from Sellers
Oversee third party document custodians
Ensure loans are on appropriate shelfs at custodian
Facilitate collateral movement for asset purchases/sales, including pledging collateral for FHLB borrowings
Comply with audit requests
Manage collateral remediation process
MERS coordination and reconciliation
Oversee vendors tracking of trailing documents, obligations, and claims
Ensure appropriate diligence images are retained and readily accessible
Coordinate monthly pricing process
Coordinate and track post-closing asset level legal notices and ensure satisfactory resolution
Interface with various internal systems to create ad hoc reporting
Tie-out final funding population with investors and facilitate the settlement process including the repricing of the trade, execution of closing documentation, reviewing the funding schedule for accuracy, compiling mortgage loan schedule data, and communicating settlement funds to warehouse lenders and the treasury department
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree from a top tier university
Seven or more years work experience in residential mortgage finance and asset management
Both general and front-line knowledge of real estate finance, investments, economics, law, real estate related documents, insurance, and accounting principles
Self-starter who needs minimal direction
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Excel and PowerPoint proficiency
MERS
Experience with SQL is required
Experience with PowerBi and Tableau is preferred
Familiarity with basic programming languages is preferred
Proven experience automating manual processes
Courses or higher education in computer science or a quantitative field is preferred
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and perform in a high-stress, fast-paced environment
Attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to multi-task and work independently with minimum supervision
Pay Range 225,000-300000
The base salary range for this position is listed above. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on personal, team, and Firm performance. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, level, and geographic location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed here.
