Overview Work Management Specialist II role at

Duke Energy Corporation . This position provides technical, analytical and work management support for Distribution, Customer Experience & Services. The incumbent uses independent judgment and initiative to complete assigned tasks within established processes and standards. This role supports safety, reliability, storm restoration, and cost management while delivering exceptional customer service. The position may provide administrative support to multiple managers and is non-exempt.

Responsibilities

Maintains excellent customer service to operations, management, and customers

Demonstrates proficiency with tools and systems (e.g., Maximo, DOMS, NJUNS, NC811, CAPS) to convey reliability details and essential information to internal and external customers

Maintains availability during normal schedule and emergency storm restoration after hours and weekends

Takes ownership of customer issues until resolution

Facilitates communication between internal and external customers

Reports job status details to appropriate personnel as needed

Monitors reports to ensure process adherence and achieve customer-related goals

Provides feedback to supervision for coaching opportunities

Maintains knowledge of Engineering and Construction standards and related documents used in Delivery Operations

Executes customer contracts for Distribution facilities

Audits work to ensure accurate and timely billing

Ensures work is scheduled to meet established timelines

Provides research, root cause analysis, and resolves customer issues

Processes highway relocation work orders with project managers and the Department of Transportation

Uses software applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) to prepare correspondence, reports, presentations, agendas, minutes, and manage meetings

Verifies and applies correct general ledger accounting in work-related applications

Adheres to monthly accrual timelines and invoice processing cutoffs

Reconciles work order materials, labor, and equipment to reflect actual field construction

Resolves errors and prepares construction work orders for close-out in the work management system

Audits, reconciles, and processes contractor invoices with proper documentation and time/expense alignment

Ensures timesheets are accurately completed and recorded in the time management system

Creates work orders for follow-up work using cost-effective resources and skills

Obtains approvals, calculates costs and generates invoices for governmental lighting, DOT highway relocation, property damage claims, and related costs

Prepares for and provides emergency restoration support, including assigning tasks to damage assessors and updating outage tools

Maintains storm resource tracking and outage management tools during restoration

Supports Delivery Operations reliability programs using appropriate work management applications

Supports Human Performance safety culture through active participation in safety meetings

Follows ergonomics and office safety guidelines

Supports corporate initiatives and continuous learning and development

Required/Basic Qualifications

High School/GED degree

2 years related work experience

Desired Qualifications

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software

General knowledge of applications used in Delivery Operations

Good judgment in decision making

Effective written and verbal communication skills

Collaborates effectively in a team environment

Ability to work independently in resolving problems

Flexibility and dependability during normal hours and after-hours emergency storm restoration

Ability to prioritize work

Supports changing work environments, processes, and policies

Proficiency in system applications used in Delivery Operations

Knowledge of local ordinances, permits, and inspections

Previous customer service experience

Working Conditions

Hybrid Mobility Classification – work performed from both remote and onsite locations after onboarding. Hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to a Duke Energy facility.
