Entry level Technicians perform a variety of tasks associated with industrial cleaning, railroad, and agricultural operations. In this highly safety‑sensitive role, you will learn to operate a wide variety of equipment in an extremely varied environment at our many customer locations. As we often work mill shutdowns and provide incident response, this position may be on‑call and often requires long hours and travel (usually limited to the PNW). Travel expenses, such as hotel and a daily per‑diem, are employer‑paid.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform tasks following all safety protocols, rules and regulations as defined by local, state, federal, company and customer‑specific guidelines to support JEI "Target Zero" safety goal
Complete all training and certifications as assigned and maintain current certifications as needed
Operate a variety of equipment, including vacuum excavation, hydro‑blasters, pressure washers, forklifts, etc.
Utilize personal protective equipment that can include disposable or reusable coveralls, raingear, gloves, hard hats, safety glasses or goggles, chemical‑resistant clothing, face shields, hearing protection, and respirators (half and full‑face)
Maintain clean work areas, including vehicles
Drive company equipment to customer locations
Complete daily timesheets and job cards accurately and timely with documentation of hours worked, job coding, equipment used, and meal and rest periods, etc.
Perform safe equipment checks, preventative maintenance, troubleshoot and assist with repair when requested
Follow procedures for each job and each piece of equipment
Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers
Cultivate an inclusive team culture and assist with training new hires and employees to support development and growth of individuals, teams, and the Company
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to be insured (we pull MVR report for last 5 years)
Ability to be authorized by E‑Verify and pass pre‑employment, random, and regular updates for physical/drug tests and background checks
Must be able to communicate effectively in written and oral form
Must be able to read and understand signs and materials as well as write legibly for safety and effective record‑keeping
Ability to accurately perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Previous experience operating a forklift preferred but not required
Previous experience working in a manufacturing, construction, or railroad setting preferred but not required
Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment
Must have a strong work ethic, flexibility, adaptability, positive attitude, and ability to work well independently as well as with others
Ability to work days, evenings, weekends, holidays, on call, etc.
Ability to travel to job sites as needed, sometimes out of town and overnight
