This is an entry level Counter Sales position. Duties include answering telephone calls, locating items, servicing customers, using computer to generate invoices, loading items into the customer's vehicle and delivering product to the customer's location. Responsibilities
Provide fast and friendly customer service by following the “Customer First” standards, in person or over the telephone. Greet customers as they enter the branch and maintain a positive attitude. Enter customer orders in the system on the same day the order is received. Pull customer orders from the warehouse and load into the company delivery truck, customer vehicle or stage for pickup using safe material handling procedures. Produce and complete paperwork accurately including invoices, CODs, special orders, vendor purchase orders, and shipping/receiving documents. Ensure all products leaving the branch are billed. Collect payment via cash or credit card according to money handling procedures. Process all customer returns and warranties on the same day they are received. Maintain self-service area by restocking, rotating displays, and tidying the area. Create/maintain branch displays that support corporate programs and the branch’s strengths/markets. Use available resources to locate products for customers and provide updates on delivery and backordered products. Immediately report damage, safety issues and accidents to supervisor. Use sales tactics to promote special items or sales, stay up to date with product information, educate customers on available products, and provide recommendations as needed. Perform warehouse duties as needed, including sweeping, cleaning, pallet handling, and loading/unloading by hand or with equipment. Maintain a safe and clean work environment; keep workstation neat and orderly. Represent the company professionally by wearing the approved uniform and adhering to grooming standards. Other duties as assigned. Preferred Education and Qualifications
Basic understanding of Heating and Cooling systems, parts and supplies is preferred but not required. Excellent verbal communication skills with the general public and/or customers. Strong attitude and interpersonal skills to service customers in the branch, on the telephone or at the delivery site. Proficiency operating a computer and Prophet 21. Basic math skills; understands markup vs gross margin and its effect on sales, gross margin, expenses, and controllable expenses. Ability to read invoices, catalogs, stock numbers and descriptions to identify items accurately. Work Environment
Fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. Requires frequent bending, climbing, movement, and lifting during physical loading/unloading of trucks and stocking products. Occasional exposure to extreme cold and extreme heat. Typical schedule is Monday through Friday with some Saturdays (half day). This is a safety-sensitive position. R.E.
