Job Summary The Radio Technician is responsible for the frequency coordination, initial installation, troubleshooting, service, and maintenance of new and existing radio systems at various tower locations and within the Communications Center. Provides hands-on assistance involving troubleshooting and diagnostic support for all related systems, equipment failures or service issues.
Essential Functions / Duties
Communication systems:
Installs and maintains all equipment at tower sites as well as the Communications Center.
Provides support to the IT department by evaluating / programming computer routers and networking systems within the communications center.
Assists the Avionics department for programming aircraft radios to the proper dispatch frequencies.
Administrative duties:
Coordinates the licensing process of radio frequencies with the FCC. Maintains accurate records of communications systems, equipment performance and work accomplished as required.
Qualifications
Experience:
Minimum of two years of experience as a wireless communication technician.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent, required.
Vocational technical training in wireless communications systems and electronics.
Skills:
Knowledge in the use and service of Zetron dispatch consoles.
Knowledge in Motorola radios, Cisco routers and dispatch voice recorders.
Credentials / Licenses:
Working Conditions and Mental / Physical Requirements
Occasionally required to move about on foot for long distances.
Occasionally required to ascend or descend on ladders, stairs, etc.
Frequently required to bend legs at the knee to come to rest on knee or knees.
Maybe required to lift objects over fifty pounds.
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
Frequently required to sit for long periods of time.
Work requires stooping, walking, grasping and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing data.
Continually required to perceive normal speaking levels with or without correction and to receive detailed information through oral communication.
Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
Must be able to read / comprehend, write, perform calculations, reason, and analyze.
