The Opportunity We partner with manufacturers across Manistee seeking Tool Makers who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.
Key Responsibilities
Design, fabricate, and repair precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
Operate and maintain a variety of manual and CNC machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDMs.
Interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine machining operations.
Perform precise measurements using various inspection tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges) to ensure quality.
Troubleshoot and diagnose tooling problems, implementing effective solutions to minimize downtime.
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to develop new tools and optimize existing ones for manufacturing processes.
Recommended Qualifications
Proven experience as a Tool Maker, specializing in the fabrication, repair, and maintenance of dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges.
Proficiency in operating a variety of manual and CNC machine shop equipment (e.g., lathes, mills, grinders, EDMs).
Strong ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings and specifications, including GD&T.
Expertise in precision measurement using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other inspection tools to ensure tight tolerances.
Solid understanding of metallurgy, heat treatment processes, and various tooling materials.
Bonus Qualifications
Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam)
Experience operating and/or programming CNC machinery (mills, lathes, EDM)
TIG/MIG welding experience for tool repair and modification
Familiarity with advanced metrology equipment (e.g., CMM, optical comparator)
Knowledge of various material properties and heat treatment processes
