This position is a graduate student assistant supporting the College of Applied Studies. The assistant will work closely with the communications and marketing team to execute strategies that enhance the college’s brand, engage its audience, and promote its programs and initiatives.
Job Summary A Graduate Staff Assistant (GSA) assists university service and academic units in non‑teaching or non‑research activities. Specific duties vary by unit but should utilize the student’s education and abilities.
Job Duties
Content Creation: Assist in developing engaging content for social media, newsletters, websites, promotional materials, and newsletters.
Photography and Video Production: Attend events or photoshoots to capture photos and video content; perform basic photo and video editing.
Social Media Management: Plan and execute social media campaigns across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn.
Graphic Design: Create graphics, infographics, and other design assets.
Website Editing: Assist with website maintenance, editing, and design.
Writing: Draft copy for emails, social media posts, articles; assist with internal and external press releases.
Event Coordination/Support: Provide promotional support for seminars, workshops, information sessions.
Market Research: Conduct research on industry trends, competitors, and opportunities.
Analytics and Reporting: Track and analyze social media and email marketing analytics; prepare reports with insights.
Administrative Support: Schedule meetings, organize files, respond to inquiries.
Required Education Bachelor’s degree.
Additional Requirements
Currently enrolled in a graduate program in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail and grammar.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Canva.
Basic understanding of marketing principles and strategies.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
Analytical mindset with ability to interpret data and draw actionable insights.
Commitment to the college’s values and mission.
Required Experience Students must be admitted to a degree program in full or conditional standing; probationary students may be eligible under certain circumstances.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with social media platforms and trends; experience managing social media accounts for organizations preferred.
Prior experience in communications, marketing, or related fields through internships, coursework, or extracurricular activities.
Physical Requirements
Ability to remain stationary in a position.
Ability to operate a computer and office equipment.
Ability to communicate and exchange information accurately.
