Our client seeks an accomplished

Infection Prevention Specialist .

Candidate must be authorized to work in USA without requiring sponsorship.

Duration : 13‑week contract with opportunity to extend and/or convert based on good performance and business need.

Job Description

Conduct ongoing surveillance, data collection, analysis, and reporting of infectious and communicable diseases to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for intervention.

Enter required data into State and National databases and prepare timely reports for external agencies as required.

Develop, implement, and maintain infection prevention policies, procedures, and system practices based on industry standards and population best practices.

Perform annual reviews and updates of the Infection Control and Prevention Plan.

Coordinate and facilitate the Infection Control and Prevention Committee.

Plan, develop, and implement quality and performance improvement initiatives related to infection prevention, including hand hygiene, device-associated infections, and surgical site infection prevention.

Conduct infection prevention and safety rounds, including: (a) Infection prevention practices (transmission-based precautions, PPE compliance, hand hygiene, cleaning, and disinfection); (b) Safety considerations (construction, water management); (c) Environmental controls (biohazardous waste, room pressures); (d) Interdisciplinary practices (invasive device management and necessity).

Serve as a subject matter expert in infection prevention, providing consultation, education, and training to clinical and non-clinical staff across all departments.

Assess organizational education needs and develop targeted educational plans and curricula related to infection prevention and communicable disease trends.

Compile and present dashboard reports for Medical Staff, Nursing, and multidisciplinary committee meetings.

Investigate suspected infection outbreaks and lead containment and mitigation efforts.

Support clinical employee health initiatives related to infection prevention as needed.

Participate in emergency preparedness and response activities.

Maintain knowledge of fire, disaster, and safety procedures relevant to the work area.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required, Master’s preferred. Majors preferred: Epidemiology, Nursing, Public Health, Clinical Laboratory, or related healthcare field.

Preferred to have a nurse with an active or inactive license, but a nursing license is not a hard requirement.

2–3 years of experience in a relevant position required.

Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) required (MUST BE ON RESUME).
