Pipefitter Helper

Baytown, TX Responsibilities
Assist pipefitters with setting, assembling, and installing pipe. Understand pipe fittings, bolts, valves, and other components as required. Prepare pipe and fittings for hoisting and rigging. Identify and mark bending and cutting lines on metal. Maintain a clean work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary. Operate tools and equipment, including beveling machines, cut‑off grinders, hammers, torches, magnetic drills, welding machines, and a Saw‑Zall. Work safely and accurately under all conditions. Actively participate in a strong safety culture and recognize safety hazards. Attend on‑site safety meetings and follow OPD and client safety policies and procedures. Be aware of changing conditions on an active jobsite. Arrive on time to the jobsite each day ready to work. Display a positive attitude and work well in a team environment. Maintain high attention to detail to avoid reworks and errors. Physical Demands
Work in a variety of weather conditions, including extreme heat, humidity, cold, and high elevations. Lifting and carrying awkward objects up to 60 lbs. Standing for extended periods of up to 12 hours per day. Performing activities that require arms, legs, climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, crawling, twisting, reaching, and bending on a regular basis. Working on elevated platforms and maintaining balance on narrow platforms such as beams and pipes while wearing an approved full‑body harness and lanyard. Basic Qualifications
At least 6 months of experience working in an industrial environment. Exposure to various metals and knowledge of pipe fittings, bolts, valves, and related components. Other Requirements
Travel must be performed with extended periods in remote areas. Work shifts up to 12 hours per day, 7 days per week. Meet all physical demands of the job. Attend mandatory safety meetings. What Will Put You Ahead
6+ months experience as a pipefitter helper. Experience reading ISO drawings. Prior exposure to various metals and knowledge of pipe fittings, bolts, valves, etc. Experience in gas plant construction environments. Equal Opportunity Employer
