Job Summary The Digital Media Accessibility Technician is responsible for evaluating and remediating online course content to ensure compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards. This position plays a critical role in making educational materials accessible to students with disabilities, working directly with Canvas LMS courses and various digital media formats.
This is a limited term position through April 2026 contingent on additional funding.
Essential Functions
Conduct preliminary course eligibility evaluations to assess remediation feasibility, including content volume, multimedia requirements, and timeline constraints
Remediate Canvas course content to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards, including headings, images, links, tables, color contrast, and content structure
Ensure multimedia accessibility by verifying captions, transcripts, audio descriptions, and proper content controls are in place
Review and assess accessibility of course documents (PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and third-party tools, providing recommendations for improvement
Generate detailed Course Eligibility Reports and Final Course Remediation Reports with actionable recommendations and resources
Test remediated content using screen readers and accessibility tools to verify compliance and quality standards

Minimum Qualifications
1-2 years of experience with web accessibility standards and remediation
Experience working with Learning Management Systems, preferably Canvas
Strong working knowledge of WCAG 2.1 Level AA success criteria and techniques
Proficiency in HTML and understanding of semantic markup
Desired Qualifications
Experience with accessibility evaluation tools (e.g., WAVE, axe DevTools, Color Contrast Analyzers)
Salary Range $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
