Summary:

As a Parts Counterperson, you will provide customers with expert advice on car parts and accessories, using your knowledge of automotive parts to solve maintenance problems.

Pay:

Up to $50,000 per year plus performance‑based bonus/commissions.

Job Responsibilities:

Assist customers in selecting and purchasing parts.

Place special orders for parts.

Read manuals to determine part type and specification.

Provide pricing and product information to customers.

Dispense parts to service department and body shop.

Order out‑of‑stock parts requested by customers.

Assist in taking inventory.

Meet departmental production and profitability goals.

Maintain CSI at or above dealership standards.

Answer telephone promptly and consistently with dealership guidelines.

Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area.

Participate in required training.

Record all hours worked accurately in company timekeeping system.

Follow Safeguards rules and regulations.

Demonstrate the company’s core values.

Comply with company policies and procedures.

Observe all safety rules and regulations.

Other duties as assigned.

Desired Education:

GED or High School Diploma; associate or bachelor degree also acceptable.

Field of Study/Work Experience:

Automotive or accounting, business, human resources, IT, or other relevant experience.

Qualifications:

Valid driver’s license.

2 years of direct customer service experience in automotive or similar fast‑paced environment.

Able to work full time, 5 days per week, Monday–Saturday business hours.

Prior experience using customer databases, researching and advising customers on parts selection.

Able to answer calls, greet customers, and collaborate with technicians and mechanics.

Can monitor parts stock levels, order out‑of‑stock parts, take inventory, and maintain accurate records.

Effective communication with customers and company personnel.

Follow Safeguards rules and regulations.

Computer Skills:

Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office, part of Dealership Management System.

Communication Skills:

Ability to understand and follow instructions; communicate effectively with customers and personnel.

Attendance Expectations:

Regular and predictable attendance; scheduled shifts typically 5 days per week, rotating Saturdays, may include holidays.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds; talk or hear regularly, stand, walk, sit.

Environment Demands:

Work primarily at parts counter and parts department.

Verbal and Writing Ability:

Read, comprehend instructions, present information.

Math Ability:

Add, subtract, multiply, divide.

Reasoning Ability:

Apply common sense and knowledge of automotive parts.
